The ACTA treaty, the one negotiated in secret has leaked. Its about as bad if not worse than I thought. Everyone should check out it. Look on certain hangouts, or BAYS, of PIRATES, or Google. Everyone read this and get informed. Then write to your Congressmen and let them know it’s bullshit.

I know that I can’t be the only one who’s seriously disappointed by the Obama administration’s failures in the realm of technology. Obama has appointed a number of former RIAA lawyers to top positions in the Department of Justice and other places in his administration. In fact, the deputy Attorney General is one of the defenders of the Copyright Term Extension Act. Obama has really show that he’s in bed with these corporate crooks, and I have to say that I’m disappointed.
Even more disappointing than his administrations ties to the record industry are the tactics that he’s resorting to in crafting policy that is against the interests of the people in the new copyright treaty that his administration is working on. First of all it’s all being done in complete secrecy. Where is the open government that Obama preached about, and I looked forward to. The only way participating nations could come to the negotiating table was to sign a non-disclosure agreement. This is absurd and hopefully isn’t indicative of the overall Obama strategy. This in itself is enough to make me question voting for Obama again, which probably won’t happen unless he’s running against Sarah Palin – who is irrelevant and a complete moron.
The European Union’s comments about the document have leaked and they don’t give me much hope. They indicate that the ACTA treaty will basically force all signatory countries to adopt what amounts to a more flawed and strengthened DMCA. The comments also hint that ACTA might encourage members to use a “three-strikes policy”.
Basically Obama’s really letting me down and I know I can’t be the only one.
Last month Threat Level posted a good rundown on the EU’s ACTA comments here.

After about two years, DisabledBobcat.com is back. Domain parking assholes registered my domain when it expired, but they gave up on it because I get no traffic anymore. The new design is done entirely by me in Photoshop, HTML, and CSS.
I’m going to be posting whatever projects I’m working on later on. This blog will probably just be used for posting reviews of stuff and discussing current events. Expect more posts soon!
